Three Blessings and a Gift
Day 2 – Sometimes blessings are about just being and sometimes they are about giving and receiving. Today while I was at Bible study I was blessed to BE with my sisters in Christ, sharing with and learning from them. We could laugh together and identify with one another, admit shortcomings, and proclaim what God has done. How blessed we are to have a God who bears our burdens rather than idols which become the worshippers’ burden! (Isaiah 44)
After discussion time, one of my fellow core members waited so we could talk, because I asked her to. Then she offered to pray for my family and me. And I had a chance to pray for her family. I left feeling uplifted and cared for, touched by God’s grace.
A little while later I had lunch with my sister, who is always supportive, and lends an ear to listen. She is generous and provided me with a carpet cleaner which she wasn’t using anymore. I was again blessed, just in a different way.
Then there was the special gift I RECEIVED when my editor sent a preview of my full cover for Rumors and Promises. My heart soared when I saw the beautiful cover that will grace my baby when it’s finally published. I wrote the first draft of my story 13 years ago. After many years and changes it’s nearly ready for birth!
While the “stuff” does eventually pass away, the gifts we give and receive, whether things, time, or attention can be a blessing and evidence of God’s grace in our lives. It’s not about the “stuff,” but the giving and the being . . . and sometimes just receiving the gifts whether tangible or intangible.
And they will pray for you with deep affection because of the overflowing grace God has given to you. Thank God for this gift too wonderful for words! ( 2 Cor. 9:14-15, NLT)
How many blessings can you find in your life today? I just scratched the surface.
