Hi Kathy! Thank you so much for having me on your blog.
I’m delighted to have you as a guest. It’s been a while. Tell us about your latest book and what compelled you to write it?
Gertrude Miller, my heroine in Wooing Gertrude, made a cameo appearance in my first book in the series, Taming Julia. Then in book two, she befriended my heroine in Protecting Annie. While writing that book, I knew Gertrude needed a story of her own. She needed a happily-ever-after too. 😊
I’ve done the same thing with favorite secondary characters. Some of them just have to have their own story. I can’t wait to hear more.
Okay, here’s the back cover blurb for Wooing Gertrude which just released:
Enoch Valentine has given up finding peace for his past mistakes. He throws everything he has into being the new part-time deputy in Burrton Springs, Kansas while maintaining the foreman position at a local horse ranch. But when trouble stirs on the ranch, he questions whether he’s the right man for either job.
Peace has been elusive for most of Gertrude Miller’s life, especially under the oppressiveness of an overbearing mother. She takes matters into her own hands and sends for a potential husband, while also opening her own dress shop. Gertrude hopes to build a future where she’ll find peace and happiness.
Will either of them ever be able to find peace?
Do you prefer writing indoors or outdoors, and why?
While I love being in God’s Creation, I find it too distracting to write outside. And then there’s also the problem of bugs. 😊 I tend to get eaten alive by mosquitoes whenever I’m still outside for very long.
What is your favorite outdoor activity?
Walking and enjoying the beauty God created. Every fall for many years, my husband and I go on a leaf hike. Last year I couldn’t hike because I was in a boot after foot surgery, so I’m looking forward to getting back on the trail in another month or so.
What would you do if you had a whole weekend off to yourself and an unlimited budget?
I would love to rent a remote cabin in a snowy forest with my husband. We’d spend time reading, relaxing, and walking through the snow.
Do you prefer traditional or indie publishing and why?
There are advantages to both, but I prefer traditional publishing. Indie publishing requires so much work getting the book to the end process. I love the work my current publisher does to promote my books and they are such a blessing to work with.
Thank you for being my guest today, Jodie, and sharing about Wooing Gertrude.
